The Travelling Song, part 3

lyrics: J.R.R. Tolkien (The Old Walking Song) & Longshanks

Roads go ever on and on
under clouds or open sky.
Soaked by rain or parched by sun.
Valleys and mountains passing by.
Bridges over gorges deep
and tunnels under mountains tall.
Slow descending, rising steep.
By desert sand or waterfall.

The road goes ever on and on
down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the road has gone
and I must follow, if I can.
Around the corner we may see
a new road or a secret gate,
a standing stone, a sudden tree.
Forever travelling is out fate...
