In the Desert

(part 1)
Upon horses back I look out on the desert.
The sun burns the sky, I shelter my gazing eye

Searching for signs among thorny branches.
A waterhole dry, a vulture is soaring high.

The sweat stings my eyes, but storm clouds are gathering.
As the wind picks up speed, I look 'round for the nearest cave.

A flick of the reign, the horse resumes walking.
Turning left and then right to find a path that is safe.

(part 2)
The horse goes insane, breaks for the hills,
fleeing the rain at speed that kills.

I let the horse slow down to a gait.
For staying dry it is far too late.
The thunder storm has drenched me to the bone.
Once again I wish I was home.

(part 3)
I'm just a stranger in a very strange land.
I'm longing for my lovely home many miles away.
I'm just a stranger in a very strange land.
There's no one near who can point the way.
There's no one near who can point the way.
